Talking online - Skype

I know this is not modelgun related topic but, does anybody know what is a way to talk, somebody outside the country, though cheap internet phone with a cam?

After I join this forum, get to know many wonderful modelgun fanatics, start to feel like I want talk with somebody, rather than just exchanging a mail. Ideally, hold a some kind of conference. Isn't there any tech guru here?

microsoft messenger is able to do vid connection through a web cam, i have tried this but never got succsessful sound so no expert but it is free and yo can see the person you are talking to, maybe someone on the forum understands the system better than i.

Agree with Stinger, Skype is used here by the wife and kids with no problems at all!

Although i dont use it in the house as my sound card functions are for the 5.1 sound..

My garage PC has a webcam attached (thats so i can watch my lathe whilst at work ) so may get that going to give it a try!!

just installed a programme called skype free to download and use you can use as a phone or with web cam, simple to set up and use and works great i just spoke to shazhib and the system was very clear, so if anyone else wants to add themselves to the list download skype and we can talk for free.

I too, have just downloaded the SKYPE program and I am ready (I think) to talk with anyone that is interested..Mark.K4

It will be great to talk to you guys! Perhaps we need to set up a general talk time schedule's to ensure that there is someone on the "line"

Hi mark, great, i am at work for the next 2 evenings so will try to catch you end of the week or next week possibly my skype name owenszzr do you know how many hours in front or behind you are from the UK, Japan is 8hrs in front so for poor shazhib it was nearly 1am when we spoke. shazi=hib and i wondered about a sort of conferance call as well but not sure if you can do this with the skype programme.

You don't need any super-duper thing on your PC.
Just connect to this link, you can find German site, download the software (both Macintosh and Windows available) and load onto your PC. This is something like you are talking to speaker phone mode of regular telephone, but you can talk with somebody through internet.

I use yahoo messenger it allows one to one with video and voice and you can also conference as well so more than two can chat with voice and video as well. I use it all the time to talk with my brother cheaper than using the phone and he was 3 provinces away

Hi Guys,

I've just downloaded skype and my mane is "chrisdonna1" i have added some of you to my contact list so you should already have my details.
Its a good idea what Mark said is to try and arrange a chat time as with all the time differences,you don't want to be getting calls at 4 am!!

Guys, I am usually up until 1:00 AM on some nights. On work days I usually arrive home about 12 AM or so. I would be interested to see when it is a good time to talk to everyone..I suppose that I need to get a web cam or something. I have a headset that seems to work so, I am set (for now) OOPs I have to go to work! See ya!
