I am certain that you feel safer guys, now that the VCR has finally became law eh? I remember what they said in the U.S. about the replica firearms import restriction in 1987. During 1986, there was suddenly allot of "children" being accidentally shot by the police due to the said "children" where in the possession of "guns"..Prior to 1986 accidental shootings news of this type of incident where rare, if ever reported. The anti-gun movement jumped on the momentum that these stories produced. They said that due to the amount of police shootings "proved" that kids access to replica guns was all too easy and that they needed to ban replica guns. (along with the real ones of course) The anti side figured that they could stir up enough sympathy for their cause by using a "hook" story that involved children/guns. As per typical, the amount of these police shootings involving children/replicas has decreased since the import ban in 1987. So, I guess that either the ban has worked (HA!) or, that the entire "problem" never was wide-spread like they portrayed it to be.... I am of course, always fascinated by these news stories and the medias lap dog treatment of the anti-gun faction.

I'll gladly be a Membership Secretary, who wants to get in on this ARSE club then?
What shall we reenact? Everything from US Civil War and Wild West so the Colt revolver models get in, WW1 WW2 Vietnam and any modern conflict you name... Ok and SWAT too ...
Any other avenue for making model guns eligable not covered there?
Being serious though, what would be the realistic chances of setting up a Group of some sort? Public Liability Insurance would be do-able, what else could be essential? DOC mentioned AGMs, Committee, Health and Safety issues etc but if there is enough real interest, could we not try it and take it seriously?
I'm serious about a Get Together day and weekend, let me make more enquiries about making a block booking at the site I have in mind.
Would you lads fancy travelling to North Wales? Long haul for some I know but the scenery's lovely, beer's good, sheep very accomodating for the lonely... I can introduce you to some, but come early if you want a pretty one.

I have already been to North Wales before once or twice as well : LLandudno ( spelling ) Prestatyn ( ? ) Snowdon , and Bangor .

Or was that last one the evenings entertainment , I forget ..

I wonder if anyone else would be on for it ?

Doc, love it the ARSE club british humour at its best in times of trouble.count me in for any organisation we can get going though i did a runner from N Wales many years ago i think i can be dragged back for a good cause.
I think we will find a good few ways around this bill as doors have been left open, once we understand it and can manipulate it legally then i will happily be in the forefront to getting something sorted and maybe some good advise from Doc will help here with what we will and will not be able to get away with but i think we will have to give it few months see what the bill is really all about and then go for it big time

There certainly seems to be enough genuine interest in setting up an Above Board organisation doesn't there?
Shall we tryfinding out how to go about it properly then? Could DOC or anyone else involved with Re-enactment Societies or large Clubs etc chip in with some advice please?

Don,t you guys think it is total garbage how you can buy a Umarex CP 99 Walther CO2 pistol ( used ) legally , but you can,t buy a modelgun or replica ?

I mean the CO2 pistol is a pretty good replica ( sorry Spencerman )....IMO
and I doubt your average dude in the street would know the difference .Esp, if he was looking down the barrel on a dark night !!

How can they be given the all clear but replicas / modelguns banned ?

Just another of the many inconsistencies of this VCR PLOP !!

I was under the impression that it is considered an air pistol and not a replica so escapes the VCR, no airgun magazine i have read has seemed concerned about the VCR so i dont think it affects them apart from no mail order which i would of thought was a huge problem for people like uttings.

yes but surely a RIF is defined by "realistic Imitation Firearm" regardless of what mechanism is inside the thing ...

They do seem to differentiate between air weapons and RIF's in the VCR Act.

I suppose an air weapon is not a imitation as it fires something

I have come to the conclusion that this act is designed to trap and convict people than control RIF's through clear and concise guidlines

Yes indeed it seems you are perfectly ok to buy the CP99 although the seller must now be registered as a firearms dealer ...(yes really) and it is for face to face sale only or its illegal sale ....interesting this , that two days after you cant buy a plastic replica you can bimble into a shop and buy something realistic looking that can put holes in things .......

I`d love to make this info publicly known as it would slap those mag hags in the face a bit .

It is even more than that . On the Airgunbbs ( and other airgun websites ) a place I frequent . USED airguns can still be sold openly online and sent through the postal system - no need to purchase from a registered Firearm dealer .

So Dealers have a loophole to sell stuff online if they wished . Get the pistol out of the box and fire 1 round and its USED so can be sold online . Indeed , the for sale section has been entirely unaffected by the VCR but for the loss of blank firers and replicas .
