| Post by InEvasion Hello all, I was just wondering if anyone had ever blued an Marushin XM177E2 bolt? Mines aluminium and I wouldn't mind making it blue. Sorry if this has already been asked. If I were to blue it, what type of bluing solution would be best to use??? Any help would be much appreciated... | |

| Post by MadMike I have not yet done this. Modelguns.co.uk used to offer a parkerized version with blued bolt, so I think it should be possible by using a special bluing liquid. Anyway I had a used Marushin XM177E2 in the past, the bolt was nice dull gunmetal colour, but it turned out it was simply spray painted. _________________ "It's a hardball world, son. | Post by Mark Try Birchwood Casey's "Aluminum Black" on the bolt carrier. I should darken it quite nicely if you follow the instructions closely. The finish can vary from a smooth black to somewhat rough gray color. _________________ Wanted to buy: MGC Sten MK3....trades?(still)

| Post by InEvasion Thank you both very much for your sound advice. I will definately order some of that Birchwood Caseys Mark, it is such a good price it would be a crime not to! Not fussed if it comes out a dulled finish, I think that might look like a more realistic, powdery finished bolt anyhow. Thanks again guys. | |

| Post by Mark Here is the bolt before the Birchwood Casey's aluminum black: Here it is afterwards: Note that due to the lighting in the room as well as the cameras bright flash, that the black finish doesn't look very "black" however, rest assured that it is black. Perhaps if i had soaked the entire bolt carrier in the aluminum black it might have appeared far blacker. _________________ Wanted to buy: MGC Sten MK3....trades?(still) MGC MP40 Marushin MP40 Nakata MP40 TRC MP40 Modelgun manufacturers, past and present:CMC,CAW,Hudson,HWS,LS,MGC(R.I.P. 1960's~2007) Marushin,Marui,Kokusai,Shoei,Tanaka and Western Arms | |

| Post by InEvasion Thanks very much Mark, as a photographer, I'd say it is safe to say that when re-inserted into the piece, that would look much like a much-used realsteel bolt. Awesome, thanks very much for the advice | |
