| Subject: Hudson Thompson M1A1 ... Revised Bolt design Sat Sep 06, 2008 10:31 am | |
| Post by Mark It appears that Hudson has revised the Thompson's bolt assy by replacing the troublesome press-in pin with a screw in pin. That should keep the extractor in place. I think this is a positive step taken by Hudson. Now, if they would just make their magazines better... _________________ Wanted to buy: MGC Sten MK3....trades?(still) MGC MP40 Marushin MP40 Nakata MP40 TRC MP40 Modelgun manufacturers, past and present:CMC,CAW,Hudson,HWS,LS,MGC(R.I.P. 1960's~2007) Marushin,Marui,Kokusai,Shoei,Tanaka and Western Arms | |

| Post by Claymore Yep thats a good improvement on the old bolt but the zinc is still to weak to last for very long and yes the mag would of been a better idea to improve cos the pin could be glued in but nothing you do improves the mag | |

| Post by 8ace Interesting, I also used screw in pins (modified HT grub screws) on my custom bolts, which look exactly the same as the one in the photo. It’s nice to see that they are addressing some of the design problems. Perhaps we should send them a list of other modifications we'd like them to do | |

I figure that I could go on and on about how good I think Wa Shan models are in general but it will take a while before someone else thinks about getting one (fools for waiting ) but one mention about the Hudson model not firing, or how crap the magazine is, and that will stick in my mind at least, and I will avoid it like crabs. Given the choice between a not so accurate mgc tommy gun that fires well, and the more accurate (praise to them for that) Hudson model that doesnt fire at all, and has a crappy magazine that doesnt work, which one will I buy? Hmmmm...tough choice, but it aint the Hudson. If there was a Hudson reprasentative that was a member on here, and they listened to our conscerns, then that may swing the balance. If you were to say to them, 'Oi, Hudson, NO! Your mags are shite!' and the Hudson guy came back with a reasonable explanation as to why, maybe a legal thing etc. then you might think, well, that isnt thier fault, and the model is good even if it doesnt work, and I know a man who might be able to fix it etc. then maybe it would make the Hudson model a possible choice. As to the AK, the only reason I think they sell that is because they are the only manufacturer who make a 'firing' model (although it doesnt really fire). | |
