I have a chance to pick up a older MGC M1 Carbine...I believe this is the metal/wood version put out years ago. I hear the new one out is of abs and wood.

Is this worth picking up as it shows it age? Is it a rare model to come by?

Hi Zartan,

I don't know too much about the MGC models, and if they made a metal version - the plastic versions seems to be problematic with the ABS.,,,,but Question

ANY M1 or M2 Modelgun is worth while getting, depending on the asking price and waht you can get it for!

I personally love the M1 versions and have a CMC metal model (Paratrooper) and a .22 calibre ERMA real steel carbine version (used by US Troops in Germany post WW2 for training).

Will buy a real WW2 M1 carbine when one comes along at the right price.

So in my opinion, buy your MGC modelgun if the price suits ya! cheers

Originally CMC made a metal version, later re-released by Tanaka.
I might be wrong, but I thought both early and later MGC M1 is mainly ABS, with just details in metal (internal parts).

In any case it's a nice model. If price seems fair to you, get it. Be aware that plastic parts might be fragile due to age though.

My bad guys, it is abs....well the barrel anyway, some of the action parts are metal.
