dont know about the hammer damage that seems unusual and i have not seen it on other models, as for the rounds nothing strange there, they get hammered by the extractor and ejector by most models the ppsh destroys rims.

No wonder for rim damage for me as well.
I remember for first papar cap version of AK wrip a rim.

This is strictly my personal opinion, I guess a brass what Hudson uses for the rounds may weaker/softer than those of other maker. I also have PPSH, after a couple of fire, some of rounds only take a specific combination of botton pin and inner piston. That means, you fire a same set of rounds (say, 10 rounds), some rounds accept any inner piston but some start not accept some piston, it is getting very stiff to push into a case.

I don't know about the hammer either, same formula may apply. I know many people feels a zinc alloy used for Hudson modelgun is softer or inferior in quality from the others.

Well, those pics could just as well be from my AK and my cartridges. Mine has a similar damaged hammer (not quite as much, I suppose mine has been fired less) and my cartridges look even worse (I suppose, modelguncollector didn't get them with the AK but had them in stock). When I test fired my AK for the second time, it ripped off the bottom ring of one of the 4 cartridges I have, so there's only 3 left now and I will never fire any ever again Hudson AK47, Hammer / Round Damage... Looks like we really have to accept the fact, that this is a fascinating, but plainly not functional decoration gun Hudson AK47, Hammer / Round Damage... Normal??? Icon_wink

Yes, the Hudson AK is a very flawed design and it does destroy the cartridge rims badly. But, I still think that even with these problems that the Hudson AK still has some promise as a firing modelgun with the right mods to its internals.

erikthecat,

The hammer damage is normal due to the firing pin design and the bolt carrier. My MGC and Marushin M16's all show some if not as bad dents and wear on their hammers as well. It has more to do with Japanese laws restricting the material that modelguns can be made out of. Your cartridges display the normal Hudson AK "dents" that due to the "side fire" firing pin design are always present. The only way to prevent the dents is to stop dry firing the gun I guess...

Pydracor,

That is the worst extractor rim damage that I have seen! What really startled me is that I see lots of plier marks on your cartridge cases which leads me to say that guys, you have to make sure that your cartridges are free of dents and plier marks and have to be in good overall polish on them as any raised up dents or marks can cause the cartridges to have extraction problems. That also goes for the chamber and the detonator. If either the chamber or the detonator has rust or corrosion on them the cartridges will suffer damage.
