To answer your question, Yes, the MGC M16A1 is extremely realistic looking..I have two of them and i am really happy with their appearance and their function too..

Actual fired .223 cartridge casings can be cycled through the action (at least in my example they can)

As Mark says yes they are a great looking modelgun no doubts and as i said fires great as well, so i am happy that i picked one up but it is very light. Trouble was i bought the M4A1 first and that is heavy and has a solid feel to it so when the M16 turned up looks wise i was impressed but the weight was a big dissapointment.
