Hi there!

I have just won the auction for a KSC Beretta M93R, which I found yesterday, so it was kind of spontaneous. I didn't have the time to check reviews and such.
For the gun (according to the seller in "as new"-condition) + a second mag + 35 cartridges + 340 firecaps I paid 201 Euro (about 260 USD).
I heard that there are 2 versions of the Beretta, I don't know, which one this is (why on earth does KSC build their modelgun and airsoft M93R's in that many different versions?).

Was it a good buy? What can I expect of that gun? Any tips you can give, anything I have to keep in mind when I use it?

The reason for the different versions are as follows:

There are two different versions of the 93, model 1 and model 2. The difference is to do with the vents at the end of the barrel. Model 1 has 3 x ports on either side of the barrel, vertical slats cut out to allow gasses to escape. Model 2 has 3 x horizontal ports around the barrel, one on the left to the top, one on the right to the top, and one on the bottom.

Then there is the matter of the engravings. They used to have the beretta trade marks on them, but because they are not licensed beretta put pay to this, so they now carry the ksc markings. I belive that the latest version has the beretta markings, but in italian or something.

As for the price that you paid, that looks a pretty good price, so I think that you got a bargain there, especially if it carries the beretta trademarks.

Version 1:

Version 2:

Both together:

Yep all the above plus version one is made of ABS where as version 2 is HW plastic so heavier. There are now 3 versions of the 93 as KSC now have the proto version which has wooden grips and a few other improvements.
One thing to beware DO NOT DRY FIRE THIS GUN if you do the floating firing pin will come loose and render you gun useless.
This is a good model and the 3 round burst is great, you can alos adapt it to full auto if you wish, take a look at the review section and it will explain how.

Thanks a lot for all the information and the warning! I'm glad, that it seems like I made a bargain, who does not hate to pay too much for something just because of a spontanous decision? KSC Berreta M93R Icon_wink

Well, typical for me, that I don't take a look into the review section first KSC Berreta M93R Icon_rolleyes Nice review claymore! It really is a shame, that the silencer doesn't stay on the barrel, I was looking forward to use it with the M93 KSC Berreta M93R Icon_sad

There seem to be three versions of the KSC M93R. Here is a scan of the KSC catalog/booklet:

Guns n guys sell all 4 versions

Just noticed that the ABS proto version has 'yellow' wood grips and the HW has 'red' grips in both sets of pictures, can't think why!

Two different stock types too.

1. The FBI? version that can fold with the magazine in place. (rare)

2. The standard version that you have to remove the magazine to fold it.

The KSC M93R has quite a few variants that vary just a little bit each time. They are very fun modelguns that are worthy of any collection and they shoot/function great!

It may appear that the "proto" M93R might have two different grip colors red and blond.

Anyway, this thread makes me want to buy some more M93R's!

The different versions for the M93 are version 1 and version 2. Version 1 has 3 slats in the barrel on either side. Version 2 has 3 horizontal vents around the barrel. The various other versions, such as the abs, hw and proto version, are only applicable to model guns, and probably has mainly something to do with copyright. The proto versions have a different style magazine and grips from the real versions. I also belive that the trade marks on the slide are the italian equivalent of the real engraving on the 93.

Spencerman, yep I limited my answer to modelguns as that is all we are meant to discuss in this area of the forum KSC Berreta M93R Icon_smile

The real steel photos above and any discussion of them should be in the General firearms discussion area I would have thought, just to stop any confusion.

Sorry allenb, maybe it just didnt come across clearly. I was trying to point out that two different types of the gun itself without wanting to sound too confusing, model 1 and model 2, with relation to the barrel style. The changes to the proto version are the magazine, engraving and grip etc, but still versions 1 and 2 of the actual gun, probably due to copyright or something. I guess that there are probably more than 4 versions if you include abs, hw etc. as there are also the original versions that have the correct Beretta trademarks as opposed to the ksc ones.

Just wanted to thank you again for all the information. I got the gun about 2 weeks ago (after I waited ages, fearing that I got shammed by the seller, as he didn't answer on emails anymore) and you, as well as any modelgun site proclaiming that the M93R is an amazing performer were absolutely right: This gun shoots awesome! And it's a lot of fun with 35 cartridges and 2 mags KSC Berreta M93R Icon_biggrin

Regarding the version: It's the second version (3 horizontal ports), no original Beretta markings, just KSC markings and it weighs 935g with empty mag, 795g without mag so I reckon it's the HW version (?).

Cool! I am glad that it finally arrived and that you received the second version. The second version is my favorite M93R version as it feels so much heavier than the first version. The KSC M93R is a phenomenal performer out of the box and that makes it one of my all time favorite modelguns to shoot. In fact, its one of the modelguns that I don't shoot all the time because I want to save it from being worn out! Some modelguns are better display models than firing models due to their parts breakage or bad performance.
