Question...
Part #63 looks like a sort of dust cover for when using sick mags (gets removed for fitting drum mag).
Anyone still got theirs?? I have looked at all the pics i can find and cannot see one fitted? do they just get lost..... anyone got one spare Smile
Any info appreciated as never seen this part!!

I've been searching through this and the original forum for a link to my post asking the same question John, without success I'm afraid.

Part #63 is intended (as far as I can remember) to centralise the old Paper Cap Open cartridges in the early MGC Thompsons.
When using later c.p. type cartridges, as almost certainly all regularly fired Thompsons are these days, part #63 is not required. It's abscence will not affect firing performance at all.

If, however, you want one, forum member Ken Harris (kharris) had one for sale on Gunbroker.(http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=183717041)

I hope this helps MGC Thompson 1921 Icon_wink

Quoting Ken:
Quote :

MGC Thompson Magazine Tension Clip Part # 63
this is the clip that goes in the receiver to keep tension on the very early Stick Type Magazines
Note if your magazine is very loose fitting when locked in place then you have the early type design stick mag used on the Early Made mgc tommy M-1921 Models
This clip is not required when using the mgc Drum Type Magazine.
The newer mgc tommys did not require this tension clip due to a re designed Magazine that fits tighter when locked in place
