Originally a toygun importer and shop under name "Ehara", founded in 1960. Five years later started their own design and production in cooperation with Shoei, a manufacturing company of Minoru Matsumoto. Metal models (such as Mauser 98k) were designed and manufactured by Shoei and sold under newly created "CMC" brand. Wood parts (stocks) were manufactured for CMC by Tanaka Works, who also designed their own model (Ruger Mini-14) sold under CMC brand.

CMC had a fame as the most accurate and realistic modelgun manufacturer.

Manufacturing was closed in 1984, after most of industry moved to cheaper, plastic modelguns. Before closing CMC released an ABS version of Colt SAA in 1979, gradually improving the molds while learning new material.

After closure some of CMC molds were sold to Tanaka. Original toygun shop continued to operate until 1995.
