| Basic Strip Down... STEN MKII (MGCUK Steel Version)
***UNDER CONSTRUCTION*** The STEN is a very simple and easy gun to strip, dismantle and maintain. Just like its real life counterpart, it was designed to be a simple, reliable weapon capable of being taken apart and maintained by a soldier or partisan in the field with the minimum of tools or fuss. In fact, this modelgun can be field stripped without any tools at all other than one Allen Key.
Cleaning and Re-assembly are described in separate Step by Step Guides so this guide begins with your STEN in need of dismantling after firing.
Inspection of parts for damage will be dealt with in a separate Guide.
Step 1. Magazine Removal
Depress the Magazine Catch and withdraw the Mag'...
Step 2. Removing Stock
The STEN has optional stocks, the Skeleton stock as on mine, and the T stock. Removal is exactly the same for them both.
The stocks' end plate has a tang which slots into the receiver...
and a hole through which the Recoil Spring Cap protrudes to lock it in place...
Make sure the Bolt is all the way forwards to minimise Recoil Spring tension...
Hold the stock and push the End Cap Button into the Reciever...
Cup your hand over the end of the Reciever and push the stock downwards to release the Tang.
Once the stock is clear, the Recoil Spring will push the End Cap out so keep your hand over it to avoid it flying accross the room
Step 3. Removing End Cap
The cap simply sits on the end of the Recoil Spring. Pull it clear
Step 4. Removing Recoil Spring
Again, simply pull it out of the Reciever
Step 5. Bolt Removal
Draw the Bolt back using the Cocking Handle until it aligns with the Safety slot...
Next, pull the Cocking Handle out of the Bolt...
Simply squeeze the trigger to depress the Sear. This frees the Bolt assembly and allows it to be pulled from the end of the Receiver tube.
Step 6. Removing Detonator Chamber
Remove the socket head screw from the underside of the Receiver...
Pass a thin metal rod down the barrel and through the vent hole in its' base. Tap the rod and the Chamber should drop out into the breech...
That’s it… the next step is... Cleaning and Lubrication…see next chapter
