There have always been many questions about identification of cartridges.
Idea of making some sort of list has been also floating for years, just hasn't materialized yet.
A couple of months ago together with 8ace, with help from Cerwyn and kickback, we started a project to create such a library. You have probably already noticed that a new forum section came up, dedicated for a cartridge library. So far we have catalogued about 30 different types of cartridges by now, inventoring important information, but also taking photos and making technical drawings (8ace was key there!).
All this information will be posted in the new section over the next days. Please bear with us as the section might change a lot in the coming days as we work out the details.
Section will have a text-based index, similar to index of reviews - an alphabetical list of manufacturers, with specific cartridges listed underneath. There will be also another, more advanced index, with ability to filter and search based on size and other parameters. That index is available on external webpage (forum does not provide scripting). After completing forum content it will linking all entries to forum threads for easy finding and discussion. Right now it only points to this section:
Modelgun Cartridge Library IndexEach cartridge gets its own thread, with the first post reserved for main information in a fixed format, and the second post reserved for photos and drawings. Thread can be used for discussion about particular cartridge, adding information or further photos. Please do not post new threads in this subcategory - main cartridge category should be still used for that.
Everybody is welcome to help us in the task! Please wait a bit until current list cartridges goes up, to avoid duplicating efforts, then you can provide information using a template available on the forum.
Goal of the template is to have the same essential data for each cartridge, and to also automate updating information. Templates are inserted into a database, then script generates index. Script can also generate tables listing cartridge information, making changes across tens of threads easier.
We hope you will like it :-)
