Can't see any markings on this replica Britsh Bulldog pistol. It's not Denix (well it's not in their current catalogue).

Kiwi, I'm guessing that no one answered because no one knows.
I went through my various Collector's Armoury catalogues last night from the 1984/85 and some later ones, but nothing came up about Webleys.
My guess though, would be an RMI, because a lot of them made it over to this part of the world, and a lot of RMIs have no markings.

Thanks Oz - I guess someone will confirm that one day!'Smile'
Or not - as the case may be.
They're not the most common of replicas, so far as I can tell - but it would be nice to know who bothered to made it!
Real Webley Bulldogs seem to be pretty common - along with American and Belgian copies. The photo of a replica in Wikipedia seems to have been re-used by a number of other sites.

So I guess replicas are NOT common and a bit of a mystery at the moment.

Momentary off topic: Australia beat the All Blacks last w/e 'Sad'
- so well done those guys after a 10 Rugby game series of losses!

This is a well made die-cast replica of a Webley Britsh Bulldog pistol, by an as yet unidentified manufacturer.
bulldog - Can anyone identify who made this die-cast British Bulldog Webley? Rightside

What began as a fascination with Webley's, after I built my Marushin Enfield pistol, led me to discover this remarkable gun. I'd never heard of it before but because it was cheaper than Colts and concealable it became popular in the USA, and some claim it was the the weapon than Really Won the West. http://www.amazon.com/British-Bulldog-Revolver-Forgotten-Really/dp/193146426X

One is even used in the movie Tombstone by Kate, Doc Holliday's friend. http://www.imfdb.org/index.php/Image:Tomb-coltlights1.jpg

There's much on the web, and some people claim that Custer even had one (or two) at his demise at the Battle of Little Big Horn ( see Webley's web site). http://www.webley.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=5&Itemid=4
There is some controversy over what sort of Webleys he had, some say he had white handled Bull-Dogs, and NOT RIC's.

This Replica with no markings other than the words BRITISH BULLDOG may, as Ozguns suggested be an RMI replica, so I am posting these photos in case someone can identify it. It accepts Marushin's Enfield cartridges, and with a replacement firing pin I'm sure it will use these PFC cartridges. The cylinder holds 5 rounds; th barrel is block at one end.

Might be another true "paperweight" made by Japan's "Adven" company...this looks kind of similar...

Thanks Jim.

Is that Webley selling for 68,000 Yen ??? Sounds expensive? 'Question'
By "paperweight": does that mean it's NOT a replica meant to be fired? And what company is Adven ?

Thanks It-deke - if it is a Denix then it's not a bad replica for Denix!
I don't suppose you would know where to view a copy of the catalogue listing?

Maybe someone viewing this post can send us a pic?

I'll email Denix and ask them if it's theirs!!
Cheers,

Excellent It-deke! Thanks for that! 'Very Happy'

Looks like the "mystery" is solved......
maybe Denix quality suffered after their factory fire, cause this little gun seems of reasonable finish.

Appreciate people's input.
Now I know what I spent my money on! 'cheers'

Not too sure - but again, by stating these as paperweights can somehow escape the law as it seems Wink

Also glad to know finally this is a Denix...

Cheers Jim.

I did email Denix
Buenas Tardes Amigos,
Necesito su ayuda por favor.
¿Es esta pistola (de Webley Bitish Bulldog) de la copia un Denix?
¿Si es un Denix, Cuándo fue hecho?

Gracias.

and kindly got a reply to confirm: 'Surprised'

Dear Sir,
Thank you for your interest in our articles.
Regarding your question I must inform you that looking at your images, it probably is one of our old products.
This item was discontinued some years ago due to the fire, so probably this article was made in before 2005.

Best regards,

Jaime Llull

And it's not a bad replica either, and I'll get it firing some kind of PFC cartridges in due course!

Cool!
I wish we could get information so easily from at least the few Japanese modelgun manufacturers who still produce them...

Hi, Old thread, but just got a few old Denix bulldogs and yours is very different to those. a simple point is the loading gate does not open on the Denix ones, it is a cast in part of the frame. Really not sure whatyours is but want it Smile
