I'm experimenting with trying to create a "case-hardened" metal appearance on one of my 1851 MGC Colts. Still not 100% happy, but getting there. '' Photos illustrate progress so far to date:
Effects were made by brushing patches of Bluing paste and leaving to dry; cleaning and applying more random spots. Then washed dried and oiled
Anyone with other ideas?

That actually looks pretty very good! I may attempt it on one of mine after looking at what you have accomplished.
