| Hi Lampwick, Thank you……I’m not sure to understand, you want to buy me grips for your real luger ? I’m very proud of this ! I don’t make this for money, it’s for pleasure only, it takes me a lot of time (I don’t know how many exactly ?) and the price should be too expensive with some mistakes…so I can’t make a new pair and sell it (but I like the idea) and I must have the original pistol gun to try and try again grips. I will try to find similar product in France named “pate noire de Ferronnerie style Zébraline”.
Merci de votre intérêt. A bientôt. Philippe

| Hi Petitcopo, Yes it works fine on zamac, i used it to reblue mine. It reacts immediatly with this alloy=> it turns it black | |

| Hi Dronne, thank you for your response and your experience.
If i use it, i must do all the pistol...? can i make only some pieces ? The look is not too "new"after?

| Hi Peticopo, After cleaning with a solvent, i used the bluing preparation on all the pistol. But you can use fine wirewool (000) on the edges, and it'll give a good sheen/patina | |

| Thanks Philippe for your detailed post. I was so inspired that I had a go at making some myself. Lefthand side nearly finished. I didn't have any walnut handy but had a piece of oak laying around. The checkering needs a little bit of a clean-up here and there and I need to recess the back of the grip for the safety - but nearly there! After seeing the update of your presentation case I have decided that will be my next project | |

| Thanks Kiwigunner I will update this thread when I finally get the other side finished I am definitely bitten by the bug now - I already want to get an artillery model next. Although I have given myself a problem by losing the locking bolt in the abyss of the shed | |

| Hi MackyD,
i just went to see your thread. Congratulation, beautiful work. Checkering seems to be beautiful and regular. How do you make it ? Have you other pictures ?
Thank you Philippe | |

| Thanks for your kind words Philippe. I basically followed your steps in shaping the grip. The checkering was a bit of a learning curve as I have never done it before, and after a lot of trial and error trying different methods I got frustrated with the results until I found some checkering files for sale on ebay. They are made by Dem Bart ( http://dem-bart.com/products.htm ) It takes a while to do by hand but makes the uniformity quite easy - it's only when you have to go around a curve that things get a little interesting! I will take some more pictures when I do the other grip but here are the files fitted to the end of a toothbrush (I didn't buy any proper handles but the toothbrush is quite handy as I can flip it around and brush the dust away as I go along ) | |

| Hi MackyD,
Wonderful. I am impressed, I know this tool but I have never used it.
Now, it's me who feel inspired!!! It 's a good emulation.
I wait for the other side and new pictures.
