I have the chance to buy a mgc sterling, in excellent shape, the bluing is near perfect but since it was a US import the bolt has been modified to no longer fire blanks (pfc's) and the mag has been pinned to five rounds.  They were imported by a company called the collectors armory back in the 80,s in this manner.

I have heard that the sterlings are very rare...rarest amongst mgc replicas(just saw one up on gunbroker for $1200US)..  What i want to know is if the mods done to no longer fire blanks bring down this gun in value?

Buyer is asking $1000 Canadian.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,
If you can afford it, buy it!
Even with modification, it's a rare model.

I would never spend $1000 Canadian on one.
*modified bolt chamber fire PFCs, no mods to mag, though.

If we could get it up to you I would let you have mine for $800 USD.

I don't know how we would mail it, though.
I had a helluva time getting prop knives for a movie into Vancouver last year.
I smuggled in a switchblade knuckleduster in my luggage and the production people had a fit, lol.

PM me if you want the Sterling - The box is here too, although Smootik has first dibs on the box, though.

Pit.

Lets check the geek cred around here....

I'm a member of the 501st and currently have a plastic/resin Sterling.

If there was ever a person in need of a metal MGC or airsoft Sterling, it's me.
Just saying.

Now lets see who else would be using a Sterling for the same purposes?
(waits for objects to be thrown at him)

If you want to chop the mag in half - I don't think you'll find a lot of love here, lol.

Seriously though, I'll sell you the MGC if you want it?

I even have an MG13 dummy if you'd like to do the Tattooine police look, but that will be quite expensive.

Pit,  Yeah, I'd grab yours (ship it to WA state) if I wanted to smuggle it across the boarder in my trunk but wont take the chance and loose $800 and get red flagged if I get searched.  The sterling I was talking about is in Canada so no issue with shipping or customs.

Most people that have these older cap guns in Canada and want to sell them rarely try because it's apparently illegal to sell them but legal to own them.

Thanks everyone for the responses.

g50racer - the MGC is only a must-have if you're a ROTJ stormtrooper. For ANH and ESB it's inaccurate, and just a waste of a fine model gun... Cool

For that price and maybe a few bucks more.....a dewat or deactivated Sterling.   This mystical Star Wars stuff is driving me up the wall.  Even Aliens movie weapons were based on older WW2 Thompson's.
