コクサイ Kokusai S&W Military & Police - 1978 MetalAs my love for S&W replicas is growing more and more, I want to extend my S&W collection and dig in their past models. I couldn't resist when I came across the ad for this Kokusai.
So this 1978 Kokusai model gun is supposed to replicate the S&W Military & Police .38 Special pre Model 10.
I might be wrong but as far as I know, the real pre M10 or M10 has never been available in stainless or silver version.
Oh well.
Markings predate the Kokusai "new concept" wave. Well as said before, it was manufactured in 1978.
I would have prefer brown faux wood grips but I can deal with the black ones. Still, I ordered eagle grips for K frame. Will see if they'll fit.
The mechanism is odd but works. The cylinder revolving is kinda capricious but oil fixed most of its clumsy movement.
The lockwork is not accurate but works on the same principe.
Sadly, the thumbpiece was previously broken and has been fixed very poorly with some glue. (the seller forgot to mention that detail). My main concern is how I'm gonna find spare parts for pre "new concept" models.
3 of the original cartridges were missing so the seller replaced them with the ones with no stripes.
Pros:
It's a piece of Modelguns history to me.
All metal, 918g loaded.
There's very little choice when it comes to older S&W design, and even less when it comes to metal version.
I tought myself how to do a braided rope because of the bottom ring.
Cons:
Inaccurate details and the big fat SMG marking sucks.
Parts will be probably impossible to find if any replacement is needed.
It's an old piece with lots of weird and inaccurate details. But that's also why I have a soft spot for this model.
