Hi,

Has anybody got any information on which grade of brass model gun cartridges are made from and whether different manufacturers use different materials?

I don't know which grade of brass but I think a material used by Hudson, not limit to cartridge brass, usually softer/weaker than that of other makers. Remember how easy Hudson's cartridged been demaged.

Dont know if this helps or not..

Brasses are divided into two classes. The alpha alloys, with less than 37% Zinc, and the alpha/beta alloys with 37-45% zinc. Alpha alloys are ductile and can be cold worked. Alpha/beta or duplex alloys have limited cold ductility and are harder and stronger.

For high pressure situations then Alpha/Beta brass alloy is used and at a guess this is what the "real steel" versions are made off.
