| Well, its taken some time but finally i have uploaded a vid to photobucket. I still dont know what the problem was and it still took several attempts to upload so not happy and also still having problems with playing vids back, they take an age to start then seem slow. If this carries on i may well dump photobucket and go to youtube. Any, vid of new Tanaka P8 with the new rounds. It does fire well but then Tanaka models always have they just blew apart after a while. As far as new material is concerned to make this you cannot tell to be honest it still looks or feels not different from the evo models. However the barrel is different that does seem to be a resin type material. The lower receiver still seems thin around the trigger which is worrying, but it seems the metal cage the put inside is longer so that may help with strength. The trigger which is a huge problem on USP models is still the same no upgrades there. The trigger does not pull back to meet the frame on the USP model so if you put too much pressure on the trigger after its fired you can snap it, the problem is the trigger hits the lower frame on the inside and stops so when you put pressure on the trigger after its fired you put a lot of pressure on the top part of the right side of the trigger as it pushes against the frame and this weak part breaks. You can file a bit off the trigger and stop this from happening allowing the trigger to move back and stop against the guard frame, which hopefully stops triggers from breaking. Hard to describe this trigger problem so will at some stage try to upload some photos to show problem. Any way on to the vid. | Well i am in 2 minds on these, they function fine but all Tanaka rounds have performed well. They make a nice crack (better than the vid sounds thats for sure), i need to test them with an evo round to see if there is any sound difference. They dont blow the O ring seal off but neither did the Evo round, they now have an extra O ring seal on the inner tube, not really sure what it achieves though, again i will need to test against an Evo to probably figure that.
The Evo rounds were fine so really not sure why the changed but these new rounds seem good and i dont think they will destroy your gun (as the original rounds did), so i am happy with them but as i keep saying i need to test along side an Evo round to really make a decision.
It does fire well but the proof of this model will be in it not breaking as the older none Evo model was just too weak in so many places and the trigger definitely needs a file down before i use it again, not sure why Tanaka have not dealt with that problem.

| Are the Tanaka triggers compatible with real steel parts? I have a P8 (and a USP) on order, but not received yet, and a real steel Heckler and Koch spare part trigger lying around.
And which part would need some filing: Tanaka trigger or frame? And where/how much precisely?

| Cant help on the real trigger as we cant get them in the UK and if we could be hugely illegal to fit. as for filing the trigger you dont take much off but trying to explain does not cut i think, but as soon as i get a chance i will get some photos of the part that needs filing, photos make it way easier to explain. | |

| Found a pic online, its part circled in red that needs filing, you wont need to take much (not a lot there in the first place). When you get your USP take the slide off and look where this part moves as you pull the trigger, when it gets past releasing the hammer you will see where this part pushes against the lower frame. you need to take to enough metal off so as when the trigger is pulled it will come back agaist the trigger guard frame and this part not touch or just kiss the lower frame. By doing this you take presure off this pretty weak area, now not saying this is the exact reason the triggers break but it seems a likely reason. | |
