hi im new and im from the states and from what ive heard being in the states puts you in a bad position as to buying guns catridges and caps. my first question is what would you guys suggest as my first gun, im looking for a pistol most likely a 1911 or a m9 or something but i dont have too much money to spend. christmas is coming and im hoping to get close to 200 bucks between gifts and i should be selling my paintball gun soon so i can convert to this hobby. second question where should i buy from ive been looking around and found some sights but im very afraid to buy overseas because i would hate to lose my money because customs siezes my gun. my final question is if i do end up ordering from over seas because of federal law the barrel tip must be painted orange and i really dont want it painted orange so am i just out of luck or is there a way around that? thanks for being patient with me as i am totally new to this and have no knowledge on anything about model guns. i am familiar with real guns so im ok with the usage of the guns its just all the technical babble i need help with. thanks again.

Yes, being in the U.S. kind of limits obtaining the modelguns, caps and cartridges..The modelguns and cartridges are easier to find and obtain than the caps As far as your first modelgun, i guess that it depends on your preferences more than anything else. You might try an MGC brand pistol first as they seem to work really well out of the box. As far as ordering from overseas, either try board member "Francky 1958" as he lives in Japan and he can get modelguns for you and he is very, very trust worthy! Or, try http://www.dentrinityshop.com/pl_collector.jsp Dentrinity has been awesome to me and i have never lost any modelguns due to them or Francky..As far as the painted barrel, if paint thinner gets anywhere near the paint it will come off... Good luck on the selection part!

welcome to the forums. i 2nd Mark, Francky is superb on getting the model you want on delivery and the packaging (which is important to keep those guns safe from conscientious post staff!!). Dentrinity are also very reliable.
For a first gun i would go with an MGC beretta 92, any of the variations, as they tend to be stronger and more reliable than the others especially for a first model.

Yes a warm and seasonal welcome to the forum. You will find a very good bunch of people here with lots of experience as I have found.
I have a small collections but I would agree the MGC series seem to be 'better' made and stronger. May be the guns they model and the build quality.
I would also say any MGC Beretta variant as this is a solid and heavy gun. I have put 100 or so rounds through and no problems at all. The other I would suggest is teh MGC V10 this too is reliable.
As Mark says depends on the guns of your interest: modern, WWII, 50's etc.
