Hello, this otherwise nearly perfect Marushin M655, bought on Yahoo.jp has some scratches which I partly caused myself trying to put the take down pin in place again Sad

I have tried to cover them with a permanent black marker, with no great results.... Neutral

so the question is: whath tools and techniques to use to paint and cover these scratched spots uniformly without painting all the frame from the start?
Thank to you all for your tips and help!

Best regards to everyone

Hello dave1!

You have a nice model there.

Well, I have had that problem too and I have tried a lot of things. Blueing won't work as the alloy seems to be magnesium, not aluminum. It is painted at the facotory and early kits came unpainted with a spray can of semi-gloss black colour.

I am using Revel Email Color SM302 semi-gloss black and a small brush to cover up scratches and am quite happy with that.

If you want a perfect finish you will have to paint the whole upper and lower receiver, but that should not be necessary.

Thanks for your tips. Actually I'd like to try first a Uni-Ball M PC17K N paint marker with 15mm and/or 8mm point. If that doesn't work I'll look for the tools you're suggesting about.

No, I'd like to avoid that, no much time for that kind of work silent BTW, what products would you suggest to paint anew a MGC 1911A1-67 whose original black finish has been deteriorated by years of storing in a leather US holster? I'd like to paint it in a grey parkerized and Tamyia got sprays in gun metal - and a grey primer too - what you'd think about it?
Thanks again.

That sounds good to me!

I recommend you make sure to clean it well before painting, using alcohol or brake cleaner. But be careful not to damage the HW plastic, so I guess alcohol is best.

Actually it's a zinc alloy replica, of the type produced for american and export market until early '90. in the general discussion forum I read of someone that cleaned a denix replica with acetone before painting it anew.  I'd give a try since my piecei it's not in very fine condition(safety not working) and I got other like new copies of the same model so I can experiment with this one with no fear of ruining it. thanks again. I'll let you know if I succeded with it Cool
