| Post by 8ace Cast zinc should be ok up to 350-400*C depending on which alloy it is but you might have problems using a domestic oven as most only go up to 260-270*C gas mark 9 (unless he ment Fahrenheit)

| I'd jumped in with both feet and assumed it was Fahrenheit to be honest 'ace, I think I'd better read the article again just in case!

| Post by kickback Hi Guys, Well the Marushin uzi is actually cast in aluminum and not zinc, don't know if this helps us or not for when it comes to melting points But i have also spent the last 2 hours trying to find somewhere in the uk that sells this spray and i can't find a single source, there are plenty in the US but they will not post outside of the 48 states,so please if anyone finds any let me know Cheers Kickback | |

| Post by DOC Birchwood casey do "aluminium black" and you can get that on fleabay UK ....
should take to the Uzi ok although bear in mind it does oxidise the surface so plenty of ventilation required (unless you like a thick head )

| Post by 8ace I think Aluminium will have a slightly higher melting point. I have tried some of this stuff http://www.kgcoatings.com/gunkote.html It was the 2400 series gun metal blue, but I wasn't happy with the colour (far too blue) or the supposed "super tough surface finish" which it wasn’t well we live and learn 8ace | |

| Post by DOC Aluminium melts at about 650c so the Uzi body will go in any domestic oven fine

| I had assumed that the UZI was zinc alloy Is it all Aluminium? Are the things like the Detonator Chamber and Bolt Carrier cast Aluminium too? I'm just thinking that if ever anything cracks or breaks it might be possible to repair with Aluminium welding. Cerwyn Cerwyn, the early Marushin Uzi's where cast out of zinc alloy and the later versions out of aluminum. The chamber, bolt, bolt carrier, sear and other parts are still cast zinc alloy. My early Marushin Uzi weighs a lb or two more than my late version. | |

| Post by Madmike Really interesting. I wonder why they have changed the material. Anyway this explains the quite heavy weight of the later Uzi, compared to its size, as aluminum is heavier than magnesium. _________________ "It's a hardball world, son.
