Went on to the marushin site and found that they are releasing the m16 again with some mods to the action plus fake gas tube and they are producing a new round for it with a better seal. vid below of it firing, lets hope we can get these when they are released.

hi,
Thanks for the news Seems like Marushin did a bit of chnage: add dummy gas tume (inside a hand guard) new higher sealed cartridge setting update on internals (not mentioned what exactly)
As far as the video from link, seems promising. The price and date of sales seems to be TBD.
Hope that come out soon.

Thanks for that Shaz, please keep us updated if you can as i would love to get my hands on a factory built good functioning marushin M16 or X177, the rounds may also work better in the older models, well we can hope.

That should stop the gas leakage from the rim.

So these are like the the 9mm they have been doing doing for some time and are centre fire. which i assume means the improvents on the gun will be making the bolt a centre fire.

newgmc have these new models advertised for reservation for 45628 yen which is going to be around the £300 mark in Japan for the factory built, kits a bit cheaper. i am very tempted.

The Marushin could still be sidefire with these carts. It would be nice if they have changed the bolt design as well.

Does anybody know if the new cartridge design will work in the old Marushin model?

Judging Form the photo in the link in my post above, I think the „primer“ of the new carts is longer than the steel pin in the base of the old carts. But I would have too take some measurements at home and on the computer-screen… I think it would need a new, shorter detonator for the old models to use the new carts.

I have not yet been able to see these new carts myself. I also do not know if they work with the old models or if they need another chamber or detonator pin.
But the piston design sure looks interesting. Two O-rings per cart should reduce the loss of pressure. They are made from aluminum to reduce weight and friction (similar to the Tanio Koba rounds).
I got word that the new Marushin M16 series was available on the market in February this year and sold-out within a few days.

I always wonder why each time something like this comes on the market and sells out in no-time, why they do not produce more ? Clearly there is a market for these beauties.

Hi Back in 1980's, the modelgun companies made higher production, but as an airsoft is getting more popular, a sales of modelgun declined significantly. I heard Marushin usually communicates with a whole seller and ask for how much of order do the whole seller would expect, then, Marushin just makes the guns to just fill the order and no extra. That is why, sometime it being sold out as soon as it came to the market. It's a shame, but strictly business.

Thank you for your explanation. I was really tempted about the improved M16A1 andd XM177E2 models ... I hope Marushin will produce more one lucky day.

Here are some pictures I found on a Yahoo auction. Most obvious changes are the new cartridge design, the added gas tube and a "STGA" stamp. Plastic stock and flash hider (moderator) do also not look as shiny as they used to in the past. the finish looks quite good.
No pictures of the internals though.
The price went up compared to the older versions, but is still affordable I’d say. Hopefully Marushin will reproduce this series soon.

I was able to see and handle a XM177E2 from Marushin’s last production run. They were available back in February but sold out very quick.
The price was approx.. 50.000 JPY.
The new carts are made from aluminum and feature O-rings as seals. I expect the new carts to work in the old models too.
There was a kit version too, but the model I had at my hands was the factory assembled version.
The overall impression is nice and slightly better than the older model. The gas tube adds a lot to the realism. I also realized that the play between upper and lower receiver is reduced, but still there. Marushin added some kind of steel ball to the rear receiver lug.
The hammer seems to be made of a different material, other than that I did not notice any changes to the internals. Especially there seem to be no changes to the bolt and carrier.
The finish is nice and flat black. Especially the stock and the plastic moderator are more flat now.
The model comes with the 20 rd steel magazine that is blued. The only difference seems to be the blued (blackened) follower.
The SMG mark is missing and was replaced with a very small “STGA”.
