Subject: Metal sear repair? Fri Dec 08, 2023 4:26 pm
Hi. I have received an old CMC Colt SAA. It has been used to the extent that the sears on the hammer (pictured) and elsewhere are too worn to engage. The metal is still there - it has just moved a bit .
Does anyone have advice on reforming these, or building them up so that they do their job?
Thanks.

ooh! that is bad, never heard of anything that can do the job. Modelgun wise they made a lot of upgrades for western guns in Japan so maybe one of the members in Japan can advise on a replacement.

Hi,
You can repair , but you will have to put metal inserts;I repaired my broken mp40 in two places (!??? ) to the handle by producing so .

the metal is too soft, but you can only put an insert that you will have previously cut in iron (no need for steel, although I used a concrete tip)

How about replacing it with a CNC'd part?

Smash it down into a block of modeling clay, remove clay from missing part with a tooth pick and fill with JB weld. You can clean it up with a small file if you need to. Hey it works on a budget
