No, the current MGC M4A1 models are all heavy weight. Earlier M16A1 series (including carbines) and the early M16A2 "M725" Carbine were available in less heavy, rather shiny ABS plastic. But those models were less prone to break than the HW material I think.
The first M4A1 edition came out with a silvergrey finish, but the foregrip and carry handle was black. The later M4A1 (and M4A1 short "M933 Commando, M4A1 RIS and M16A2 Commando "M733") have a nice dull black finish.
Anyway I like the silvergrey finish too. It tends to get darker if used (handled) or oiled, giving the gun a rather realistic "metal with wear" impression.
