| Post by romagnus I need help finding my next gun. Being new to the model gun world can anyone recommend a gun that is as reliable and fun as the Marushin MP 40?
I was looking at the MGC S&W M76 but am not so sure after what Ihave heard. I would love to get a vz61 Skorpion but am told to stay away from Hudson as they are not reliable.
Suggestions and comments welcome. _________________ DPMS AP4 carbine, CZ75, Romanian AK-47, CETME 308, Russian AK-103, XD40SC, 16guage shotgun w/short barrel, Marlin 22LR.....and some others I can't remember right now.....all real. And now a Marushin MP-40 | |

| Post by ljerr2 How about an MGC Tommy Gun? Full metal and good firing weapon. Plus, you can still get some spares for it from our friends here on the forum! | |

| Yep, both MGC's Thompson and Hudson's Grease Gun are great models. If I can get it done this week I'll have a video of the Grease Gun sorted to finish off the Guides.
One tip regarding the MGC Thompson, if you're buying a used one check the Bolt face. The zinc ones are soft and deform very quickly leading to misfeeds and jams. New zinc ones are available though from Francky and shazhib but if you can get a steel one instead, get one as it'll last for ever...

| Post by shazhib Hi,
My suggestion is like others,
- MGC Thompson (zinc) - Hudson Grease Gun (ABS) - KSC Beretta M93R
Skorpion looks nice, but this is not firig well. On top of that, the model is being open bolt operation where a real one in closed bolt.

| Post by romagnus Wow. I'm learning a lot here. I think I will get a grease gun next but I am still tempted with that M76. The thompson would have to come later. It's too bad for the skorpion, that is a sweet gun! decisions decisions....... _________________ DPMS AP4 carbine, CZ75, Romanian AK-47, CETME 308, Russian AK-103, XD40SC, 16guage shotgun w/short barrel, Marlin 22LR.....and some others I can't remember right now.....all real. | Post by romagnus just a thought. What do you think of the MGC M11? I see a metal version and a "heavy weight" full set. Can you tell me what heavy weight means? Is it heavy duty plastic or metal to weigh like the real thing? thank you for the info. _________________ DPMS AP4 carbine, CZ75, Romanian AK-47, CETME 308, Russian AK-103, XD40SC, 16guage shotgun w/short barrel, Marlin 22LR.....and some others I can't remember right now.....all real. | Post by ricks I have all of the models you've mentioned, except the Skorpion. I'd go with the MGC Tommy - they're built to last & are worth a million credibility points! _________________ Rick | |

That good huh? Would you go Hudson or MGC on the tommy gun? Does anyone else make that gun too? _________________ DPMS AP4 carbine, CZ75, Romanian AK-47, CETME 308, Russian AK-103, XD40SC, 16guage shotgun w/short barrel, Marlin 22LR.....and some others I can't remember right now.....all real. | Post by Mark The choice between the Thompson's is a subjective as well as a functional choice as the various models of the Thompson have been made by the modelgun companies such as
1. Marushin (half scale and out of production years ago)
2. CMC (great modelgun but very expensive and out of production)
3.Tanaka (CMC molds and very expensive)
4. Hudson (very nice decent modelgun)
5. MGC (the best firing performance. Sadly out of production)
Marushin made the Thompson versions: M1921/28
CMC made the Thompson versions: M1
Tanaka made the Thompson versions: M1
Hudson made the Thompson versions: M1A1
MGC made the Thompson versions: M1921/28 _________________ Wanted to buy: MGC Sten MK3....trades?(still)

| Post by Claymore M11 is a great model and it only comes in plastic and HW plastic though its possible the airsoft metal upgrade bodies will fit, it fires at one hell of a rate and makes a great sound. personnally i use the open rounds rather than the newer cp rounds as i find the open rounds for the ingram far more reliable than cp rounds, cp rounds also caused a good few breakages where as the open rounds do not. | |

| Post by Doc you need to find a good open round type Det pin ..... and the rounds themselves .
I agree with Clay on this though as I use the open rounds in my MAC
(in one of my M76s too)

| Post by ricks I second what the others are saying as well; selection is such a subjective thing. Durability & mechanics are more important with guns that are used, & detail may be more important to a diehard collector. There may even be a few more options where you live for toys that make a racket. _________________ Rick | |

| Post by Spencerman Here is a thought, as I personally love these guns. How about a Wa Shan? Maybe an M9, full metal full auto goodness, and very reliable straight out the box, uses MGC SigP220 rounds. Or maybe the Glock 17, again full metal, a little strange on a Glock, but very nice. Or maybe a 1911 is more to your liking, then the Wa Shan is the most reliable 1911 that I have fired, with hardly any jams, and those that I did get were not down to the gun. They do other models too, but those are the only three that I have, so I cannot comment on the others, but I certainly prefer the Wa Shan models over my MGC models etc. I have found that the build quality is very good, and many people have worried about this before they get one, and I am sure that they probably did start out a little shaky, but they are in my opinion one of the best models that you could get. _________________ | |
