| Post by Navymid2011 Hey guys, I already used the search, and came up empty... I'm looking (as you may have already read) for a gun that will chamber and eject dummy cartridges. The 3 guns I'm looking at closely are; 1.) CAW M1911A - $269.00 from Francky's 2.) MGC Remington-Rand M1911A1 - $258.11 from Francky's 3.) Keystone Arsenal M1911A1 - $129 from Keystone What do you guy's know about these guns? I know the Keystone won't chamber and eject rounds, but it is a realistic weight, and does everything else, and is pretty cheap. Things I'm asking about; 1.) Built Material/Quality 2.) Durability 3.) Weight 4.) Accuracy (Markings etc...) 5.) Anything else you know (Please tell me everything you know!!!!) _________________ Very respectfully, Navymid2011 | |

| Post by Mark As far as i can surmise, the CAW is the most accurate appearing of the modelguns that you have listed. The MGC is the best firing model and the Keystone model is the best longevity wise of the models. As you can see, the choice isn't as easy as it may appear at first. The best choice is to buy them all. However, that really isn't practical as it is expensive. The problem is that they are all good and they all would be a good choice if you bought anyone of them.
Now, i have a couple of questions for you, just how roughly are you expecting to handle these models? Are you looking for an accurate appearing model for display only purposes? _________________ Wanted to buy: MGC Sten MK3....trades?(still)

| Post by Navymid2011 I'm not going to drop it, or beat it up in that sense, but I probably will be field stripping it, and running dummy shells through it regularly. (Or just working the action on the Keystone Arsenal one...) Basically, it will get used by hand a LOT. NEVER with caps, and taken care of besides that (not dropped, stepped on, thrown, etc...)
Also, how heavy are the Marushin kits? I have taken apart (detail stripped) real 1911's, so I have that experience. How difficult are these kits to built? What is involved? How heavy are they when completed? They're much cheaper, so I could probably purchase two kits for every model gun if they're worth the money. Anybody know the weight and built material on these? Are they as good as assembled guns? _________________ Very respectfully, Navymid2011 | |

| Post by shazhib For Marushin Kits, I think it weights around 600g with no rounds and mag. CAW and MGC weights pretty much the same I suppose.
Marushin sells 1911 as a complete gun first, then, released a kit version. I've never assembled 1911, but did so Walther PPK, Browning 1910, Beretta M84 and S&W 439 kits from Marushin, you need to do some "sand & smooth" process. But if you have any experience assembling a plastic models, then, I don't think it is particulary a difficult job. If you have trouble understanding an instruction, I can help you out. Also, if you want one, I can get one for you as well.
As to the reality, I would say CAW looks real the most. Don't know anout Keystone.

Shaz, | |

| Post by kickback From what i can tell by what you are after...a modelgun that you can cycle dummy rounds through, correct markings and weight and a benifit to be made from metal, then there is only one choice...Hobby fix!. I have a Hobby fix .45 as well as others and it is the most realistic .45 i have seen, they are a little more expensive than the other modelgun makers but i'm sure Francky or Shazhib could source you one at a good price, its really worth looking into. Sorry if this has made your decision any harder

| Post by Navymid2011 I was actually looking at that...do I have to built the Hobbyfix kit? How hard is it? I can detail strip a real .45 no problem, so I am confident in that, but is there any painting/finishing work involved? Glueing parts together? Seams/gaps to fix, etc? Got any pictures of a normal Hobbyfix .45 (not the gold finish?) A vid would be good too. How much are the kits usually? _________________ Very respectfully, Navymid2011 | |
