A rare 100% metal copy of what is considered the rarest Luger ever made. Presented to a high ranking Reich Marshall of Germany on August 15th, 1939, by Heinrich Krieghoff of the Of the Krieghoff Waffenfabrik Arms Company. This gorgeous copy has replicated all of the meticulous scrolling and detail of the original down to tooling marks, inscriptions and armory identification. Parts are all matched with the #16999 on the frame and the magazine base. The dummy rounds can be loaded into the magazine and hand cycled through the toggle breach. All metal construction replicates every function of the original but cannot be made ot chamber a real round or me made to fire. It weighs almost the same as a real Luger! It is all finished off in a beautiful 22 Karat Golf metal finish. This replica was originally going to be sold in the United States through the Franklin Mint along side the George Patton SAA revolver. However, concerns of anti WWII German sentiment and political correctness killed the deal and no Krieghoff Luger was ever sold here in the U.S.. A few made it out into the hands of Japanese collectors, but very few were ever produced as a result of the U.S. deal being scrubbed. Even rarer was a special wooden wall plaque that was going to be sold with it in the U.S., but only a handful were produced before the deal was killed. This example has that rare wall plaque with brass inscription plate attached to it.
