1. Remove all traces of old finish. Polish surface to as high a shine as possible

Looks nice, great work.
How durable is bluing on model gun metal? I’ve never had much joy using it. I’m tempted to try some Duracoat Spray on bluing. I’ve used their other colours to good effect on real firearms.

Welcome to the forum !


Cold bluing compounds will start to wear off the more the model is handled. Some compounds are worse than others but, eventually, re-doing the process again is inevitable.


Once I find the photos, assuming they're in my files, I can re-post several photos of metal modelguns that have been lightly sprayed over with metallic paints after bluing. If I don't have them, hopefully the member that put them on here will re-post.
Photobucket's recent actions stripped shared photos from forums and elsewhere worldwide. It'll take some time to restore everything I have on file.
