Reading about this makes me want an AK, but one that works like 8aces will.

I am really impressed by your work and skills! I remember some nice modifications and custom guns you have made in the past, but this is really outstanding. Keep up the excellent work.

Many thanks for the words of encouragement Very Happy  it has been needed as it hasn’t been as straight forward as I first thought.

I thought I’d show the difference between the old and new type mags.

As you can see the new and old Hudson mags are quite a bit different and have gone back to using thin steel. I have a feeling that Hudson used real AK mags and replaced the springs as they seem identical to known real AK mags

Success at last bounce  bounce  bounce  bounce

After much tweaking she finally works.

Sadly I only have a 14 of rounds but I have put them through 3 times with 1 jam and 1 misfire

I had to make some major changes.

1: Use 1x7mm cap (with longer det pin)
2: Remove the auto sear
3: Change the mag follower for old type
4: Add a spacer to strengthen the main spring

Did you get any more video before Kickback pinched it Question Question Question

You're too modest an'all, you did a fantastic job getting that AK to work. Just think there isn't ANYONE, ANYWHERE that's managed that to our knowledge... not even Hudson Exclamation

Let's hope Kickback gives us a treat of several magfulls blatting away... are you listening Kickback boyo Question Don't you go hiding that under your bed now....

Wink

No sadly I didn't get anymore vids done No but kickback is hopefully getting some more rounds to see what it does with a full mag Very Happy

It's not (MGC Thompson firing) perfect as it still has the odd extract issue and I was disappointed that the auto sear addition didn't work Exclamation (might need a lighter bolt assy) but I’m pleased with the results.

Cheers cheers

Sadly the new aluminium rounds will only fit the new Hudson mags so using real ones is out. I did use the follower from the real/Hudson old one (not sure which one it came from now) as the new Hudson mag follower seemed to boat about a bit

Been working on another AK modification which I have finally finished Very Happy

I have changed a few things from the first one by making the trunnion/bolt/bolt carrier from scratch to sort out the eject/feed problems

With the trunnion I have tried to fill as much of the space around the chamber so the rounds have nowhere else to go but into the chamber

Hudson AK47 Project - Page 2 2AFF5uu

The bolt is a two part unit (similar to the original AK one) but with the bolt face extended to fit the trunnion, also the extractor is more inline with the ejection port.

I know what you mean Claymore, looking at these photos and the vid has cheered me up this moning too and it's not even my gun Laughing

Cheers guys,

I'm very pleased with how it turned out (wasn't to sure if my design would work). It uses the aluminium rounds which do help the ejection but I’m only using 1x7mm cap and not the normal 2x7mm with brass spacer as supplied from Hudson.

Oh I forgot to mention that I have used the original Hudson (zinc) hammer and hammer spring but I did add a steel insert into the hammer similar to the earlier one I did, also I have not added the auto sear.

It goes to show how much more efficient your design is if the rounds only need a single cap to produce such smooth firing Exclamation

What you need to do now is borrow Kickbacks' aluminium rounds and you'll have a mag'full to demonstrate with Wink
