PostSubject: Question about MGC    Question about MGC Icon_minitimeThu Oct 13, 2011 8:49 am

Hello friends,

I have a question for you about the MGC brand.
I can catch a MGC Python 357 Heavy weight but I don't know this brand. Ok, I heard about it a lot of time in this forum but I wonder if some MGC's owners can tell me more.
Anyway, is it a good brand? model guns are well finished?

So if someone can help me, it will be kind Smile

Thanks

Wink

MGC was one of the largest manufacturers, together with Hudson they basically started whole industry.

Their models have reputation of best firing (thanks to Tanio Koba experience), but mechanism details have been sacrificed to achieve good results. This is in contrast with for example CMC who made the best details and finish (thanks to Minoru Matsumoto of Shoei), but did not fire as well.

Finish is overall pretty good. It seemed to be better for older models (especially metal ones), getting slightly worse (from my point of view) at some points in time when MGC was bankrupt and models were produced under different brands. See lettering on slide, which is probably the worst I found in my collection. Other models are much better.

You may want to take a look at other MGC reviews, where you will find many photos showing details and finish. There is no MGC Colt Python though.

I have had one, but I have just sold it a few weeks ago.
It is a very nicely finished modelgun!!
Only, because I'm a collector, I have never shot mine, so I can't tell you more about that.
If I remember correctly, it is also pissible to place nill grips on it and then it looks even better!

edit: you can see a picture of mine here on page 2 of the topic:

Ok thanks a lot friends Wink

I have to think about to see if I buy it. I want, since longtime, to buy a metal kokusai python and nowadays, it's only the gold finish.
I have to find money for it.
