PostSubject: Hudson Desert Eagle   Hudson Desert Eagle Icon_minitimeFri Jan 11, 2013 10:01 pm

Hey all,
Just got a shiny new heavyweight Desert Eagle, but when slide rams the cartridge forward to load the round it sets it off. It also means it fires full auto when you manually load the first round...
Any suggestions folks?
Thanks

Hi Huw,

First things to check are that the Detonator Pin is located correctly in the chamber, and that the cartridges are loaded correctly.

If the Detonator Pin is slightly too long, it'll cause the cap to ignite as soon as the slide closes. Incorrect cartridge loading can cause the internal firing pin to strike the cap too soon.

Please let us know what you find Very Happy

Hey Cerwyn,
i think its the detonator pin being too long as I have experimented with the cartridges having the cap and striker further and further away from the front.
Suggestions? Strip it and file the striker down?
Thanks
Huw

Hi Huw,

Before you start shortening the Detonator Pin, does your Desert Eagle use this cartridge?

If it does, Hudson used a shorter piston and 0-ring assembly in their design. Check that a previous owner hasn't fitted longer MGC pistons to try improving blowback.
If the cartridge looks in order I'd suggest making another Det.Pin which can be shortened until you achieve perfect firing. Once you remove metal from the original pin you can't put it back again if it's too short Wink

Hi Cerwyn,
Yes indeed those are the carts I'm using, although as I bought it from den trinity, so I assume they haven't been messed with. Will disassemble it and start experimenting on the Det pin. Will post any updates as I get around to it! Got a wa Shan glock at the same time and it works perfectly although due to a manufacturing error it seems you can't strip it without damaging it!
Thanks!
Huw

Hi Huw

As it's a new model then the cartridges should be fine Very Happy
A loading guide can be found here:

I don't know how the Det. Pin fits in the barrel, is it screwed into place or a push fit secured by a grub screw Question
I'd check to make sure it is in place correctly before doing anything else.

BTW, if it's a WaShan Glock G27, this might help...

Regarding your Glock G17, it looks like Momocampo encountered a similar problem;

Hmm... will see if the solution from the g27 works on the g17...
thanks, love this forum! Might be adding a PPK & P220 to the collection soon!
Hopefully there'll be no problems with them!
