Buy Magnesium Powder = Visit from Plod!

Hi Chaps,
Like many here I bought some magnesium powder to experiment with increasing the flash of my modelguns. This was well over a year ago now.
Yesterday as I was at work I had a phonecall from my fiancee saying that there was a nice gentleman from the police complete with flack jacket at my front door,enquiring as to why I would want such a thing!!
I told him the truth which he seemed happy with and that was it - no dramas but I thought I'd tell all you in the UK who have bought some magnesium powder your probably gonna get a visit from the boys in blue!

Think I would have panicked big style - even though I have nothing to hide . I think ...bit nervous about the voltran mp5 I suppose ...

Good to know the Police are on top of things like this , from a security point of view ?

I get a bit paranoid about this kind of thing and it makes you wonder if sites like this get monitored by certain agencies ??

If I was in the Police and I wanted to find out if people were buying / selling illegal weapons , one would imagine they would monitor closely sites like these . Maybe even try to infiltrate by posing as a member ?

You even hear about certain key words getting picked up and going into a central database : explosives ? suicide bomber ? magnesium powder ? ..... maybe I watched too many X files ?

I only asked as that site was busted selling chemicals for use in making drugs (Crystal Meth). All the sales records were seized and i would hazard a guess they are just following things up.

Believe me, if they were really worried it would not have taken so long to call upon you!

Phil - sorry mate can't remember which site and I'm at work at the mo, but when I'm back home I'll have a look at the tub to see whats printed on it.
I can't believe people were buying crystal meth ingredients over the net!
Phobus - yeah my pregnant girlfriend was scared - especially when he asked if he could speak to her on her own as there were guests in the house - lucky she has a sense of humour!

What the site sold was the chemicals required for the process to produce the drug, that chemical is banned from being imported into the USA but they were selling and shipping it with no questions asked!

I had a similar visit from a pair of PC's as gunshots had been reported to them whilst i was firing a SAA blank firer in the garden.

Defenetly not good to have the police round but it's nice to see calm officers instead of guys tooled up kicking down your door at 3am.
