| I decided to buy one of the MGC Sterling Candian replicas. It was the right price, and I am finding myself using replicas more and more, lately.
This will likely be a US version with the screwed up bolt (it hasn't arrived yet.)
Does anyone have a source for replacement bolts?
I will likely never use it with caps - but I do like them as nice as possible in my collection.
Anyone have any idea why they didn't get the muzzle right, when so much care and attention went into small details like the stock and magazine?

| Yup - he wants $370 for the steel Sterling bolt - which is more than I paid for the gun. So, not happening today.
It stays in cut/shaved US import mode for now, lol.
$370 pays for a quarter of the price of my new MG15 saddle drum loader, lol.

| Make one. I'm sure a practical person such as yourself involved in the movie business will know someone who can make one for you. Failing that, invest in a good metal turning lathe and you can pretty much make whatever parts you need. | |

| God bless you - for thinking I had that kind of skill. It would be cheaper to buy one, I guarantee you, lol.

| Two of the new toys this week. MGC Sterling Mk V and box. DOT 1944 MG34 in semi automatic. I must say I had thought I'd pretty much stopped buying replicas, I am just not into the modern plastic ones. But this little replica is cool, it feels about 7/8's the size of an original, there are a few cosmetic differences, but that's ok. As with many US imports, the bolt head has been shaved so it won;t pick up a round from the mag and the breech has been plugged with steel. There is also a hole from top to bottom through the breach (drilled using the first row of cooling vents as a guide), that you can look through. But, it is still pretty cool, IMO. This one stays in the collection for a while, and will very likely get used on the next shoot. Pit. If anyone is in LA - I have my first theatrical release opening this weekend - "The package." http://www.laemmle.com/viewtheatre.php?date=02152013&thid=22 | |

| You got a box with it as well that is pretty rare, very nice buy. Its a very good replica this MGC i carried one of these as my personnal weapon for many yrs and apart from the muzzle end cap its very accurate, fires great to if only it was easy to find exta mags for it though. | |

| I do not need the box - it is an empty cardboard box, no insert. If anyone in the US is interested let me know - I can't imagine it would be practical to ship to the UK. I have owned a few Sterlings - and this is not a bad replica. But the finish on the Sterlings I am familiar with is a baked on crinkle type finish, the replica mag is too short, and the charging handle is straight, the replica gun is shorter in overall length, and the muzzle is quite different, also this replica is held together with hex screws, lots of hex screws, lol. The charging handle is held in place by the pressure of the recoil spring, not the receiver edge, which is a little hokey. There is no bayonet lug, either, but it is, all in all a fun one. (Thrown together with original para smock, SAS beret, FS dagger - yes, I know it's not supposed to go there on the 58 pattern web gear.) Pit. | |
