Took a big jump and did the treatment on my beloved Tanaka. I'm very happy with it.
I also worked a bit more on the iridescent effect by rubbing the grease randomly, since the grease darken the abs and rubbing it with cotton shows the reddish tint of the Sharpie.

The postman brought my Sharpie pen and Silicone Grease (same as yours) yesterday so I'm keen to start  Wink
One thought though, this clearly works very nicely on the HWABS models but have you tried it on the lighter ABS  Question
As ABS tends to be smooth and shiny do you need to prepare the surface by gentle sanding to give the ink a "key" to adhere to Question

Well, the Automag barrel is made of lighter ABS and it looks smoother then HWABS. No adherence issues the result would just look smoother which is not a bad thing imho. But remember, use a piece of cotton to spread the marker's ink as fast as you can after you 'paint' if you wanna avoid the marker lines.
