Help with ID of this early PPK model gun Empty
PostSubject: Help with ID of this early PPK model gun   Help with ID of this early PPK model gun Icon_minitimeSat Nov 14, 2015 3:33 pm

I recently acquired this early PPK model, It seems pretty rare as I have never seen one before.
It has no makers mark, only the early stamped crown to signify its a replica.
when you pull the trigger the whole slide moves back and then fires
It is also a little bit smaller than a real PPk (last pic)
Any idea of the maker?

The trigger / slide action is an early example of T.Koba design when he worked for MGC
known as " Slide Action" or the more quirky sounding "Quack Action"

That crown mark has appeared on the Forum's pages before, but my searches for it so far haven't tracked it down!
A more ornate Crown can be seen on a very early MGC MP40 but I'm certain it's to be seen on other early makers' models too.

Hopefully more info will come in from other members Very Happy

Based on slide markings this seems to be Malugo version from 1968, based on MGC from 1964-67.
You can find more here (use Google Translate):
http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~yon-yon/cgi/malugo/ppk_1/index.html

Crown mark is described in "Modelgun history" post, it helps to establish dating.

Thanks guys
It does look like a Malugo and the slide does measure 125.3 mm
The markings are slightly different, mine says (ThUr) on the slide (extra u) so this is probably earlier or possibly later than the gold one pictured?

There is a typo in the drawing: "Thr".
Slide itself is marked correctly, see photo above.

Ah, yes you are correct.
It seems to have a serial number. Do you think these are unique to each gun or do they mean something, I.E year of manufacture?

The crown logo also appears on the French M1935A repro.

Thanks everyone. I had never heard of Malugo until now.

I will be selling the gun shortly and will be open to offers

It is a fairly unknown company. A tiny bit of information is there:
https://mp40modelguns.forumotion.net/t1961-malugo

Forum also has a list of modelgun companies:
https://mp40modelguns.forumotion.net/t1948-list-of-modelgun-manufacturers

And a brief history article, which explains the crown symbol:
