Hi guys, I recently discovered this site and think it is ace to know there's other gun geeks out there. I had a few LS models in the 70s then a few Marui and Marushin ones in the early 80s, from Beatties. Boy do I wish I'd got them all and kept them in good nick.

I've just got a factory Marushin M712 and have a few questions. When it arrived it had signs of being fired at least once, is this usual for a supposedly new model? One of the cartridges was noticably corroded but seems to be okay now that I've spent ages cleaning it. However the pin in the barrel has some corrosion on it and it's not easy to get to and won't come out, any tips on cleaning bearing in mind it's been like this a long time. Vinegar + baking soda? Additionally It didn't come with the cap loading tool. Anybody got some dimensions so I can make one up?

I've also still got an old Marushin P-38, but it has a few parts missing, anyone got some spares?

Cheers guys, Ross.

Hi Ross welcome to the forums!

I think that we all have lost at least one modelgun or replica that we have lost or broke!

The best way that I have sofar discovered to clean cartridges or modelguns is the baking soda/warm water/vingar. Although, it depends on just how bad the corrosion is in the barrel or cartridges. Just pour some baking soda into the chamber and then, pour in some vingar. It will remove all of the corrosion in a few seconds. The Detonator (the pin in the barrel) is usually difficult to remove form the M712 due to the length of the barrel. Usually, a small screw driver can be used to push out the detonator from the front after the set screw is removed.

I am sure that any one on the forum would be happy to get you the proper dimensions on the Marushin loading tool so you can make one.

As for the Marushin P38 parts you might email forum member "francky" and ask him for the parts as he can usually get spare parts for the older modelguns.

Hi Ross,

I've got some diagrams of my Marushin loading tool; the critical dimensions are in red as these are the ones that push the cap in to the cartridge.

(I have measured it with a ruler by eye but I can use a micrometer when I get into work on Monday just to check them)

Hope this helps

Martin
