| My thoughts and prayers are with our friends and their families in Japan, as well as with the whole Japanese people.
Watching the breaking news at work, I have tears in my eyes. I can't understand why this nation has to suffer that much. Although earthquakes are not uncommon there, we slowly recognize how bad it is this time.

| Likewise from here in New Zealand.
The sheer scale dwarfs what we had recently in NZ - and that was absolutely devastating here. This one in Japan is beyond words! Beyond imagination.
Heartfelt concern and best wishes go out to all concerned, especially to our forum members.

| Folks,
Appreciate your warm words.
Tokyo or Osaka, major commercial area do not suffer that much so far as now, however, northern part of Japan......god....some towns were totally wiped away by Tsunami. The casualties considered to be increase time after time....
But, we will come back, we will overcome this. Yes, we can, because we know we have friends around the globe who kindly extend their care and help.
Thank you, thank you all.

| Thank you for the update shazhib, even with all news channels it is difficult to fully understand situation in your country. I do hope your nation will overcome this disaster with help from friends all over the world.
On a separate note information from Tomio (Shoei):
Dear My Friends,
The emails coming in with concern are overwhelming! Thank you for your kind support. I am really glad to tell you that we are safe.
Although we were distant from the focus, it was a big, very long shake. Probably, even my parents have not experienced this. Serious damage was not in the factory of Shoei, or my home. However, I was busy with broken clearing up of a glass and tableware. Aftershocks continued afterwards, and eventually I could not sleep a wink last night.
On the other hand, there are many people who suffered this earthquake and the damage of tsunami. If it thinks of the people, I cannot be truly pleased with our safety.
We usually passed from today and have begun work. We are OK! Please give Shoei the support which does not change from now on.
Thank you very much!
Greetings from Japan.
Best regards,
Tomio | |

| Thank you for you concern. I am glad that you are worried about us. Japan is a small country, but on the earth 10% of the earthquakes happen only in Japan. I live in Tokyo where is about 500 kilometers or 300 miles from the epicenter. However, the earthquake was very strong. By the earthquakes, about 1000 people are died, and about 1000 people are unknown now. At the beach, 300-200 bodies are floating. Otsuji town disappeared by the tsunami. 17300 people lived Otsuji town. Now 7500 people are evacuated, but about 10000 people are missing. The nuclear power plants are dangerous state. The day of the earthquake, few people was died, every train and subway was stopped at Tokyo. But my Tokyo life is safe now. Nobody is panic. The water the electric and the gas are supplied. But Tokyo Disneyland is closed, opening date is undetermined. The Japanese are quiet and strong people. Even atomic bomb damage, Japanese has recovered. This is the report from Tokyo about the earthquake. Thank You so much. B.L.K. | |

| one of the things I have noticed about the news coverage is how dignified and calm the Japanese people can be during such devastation.
If any nation can recover quickly from this (ongoing) disaster it is indeed Japan.
I have even more respect for you guys.

| Another thing that has stood out for me, is the willingness of the Kiwi's to go and help; they have just suffered their own tragedy which they are coping with and yet they are up and ready to help in Japan. Humbling for the likes of me.
Respect to all.

| I guess our philosophy as Kiwis is: "What goes around - comes around" = what you give - you usually get back is some way! OR What you are willing to receive - always be prepared to give likewise!
Certain hope that earthquakes don't keep going around though!

| Our thouhts and hopes are with the japanese people, too.
My wife and I are watching the news for several hourse now and man, is that shocking footage they're showing of the tsunami... it's depressing, how powerless humans are, when nature really decides to strike.
We really hope, that as many as possible can be rescued, that they get the nuclear power plants under control and that Japan will recover from this crisis. Let's also hope, that people worldwide learn from this and that something changes with the nuclear power plant policy.
Best wishes to all of you in Japan!

| This earthquake / tsunami means more to me - as there's a friend who works on the Honda Plant in Sendai have lost contact since Friday...he just came to HK / China last August - as well as the visit he bought me several rare gun magazines... Really don't know what happened to him at this stage and situation sounds bad (predicting casualties will be well over 10,000)...as well as the nuclear threats - just beyond imagination ... But good to know that all our friends here from Japan is safe and sound...I pay full respect of the well behaviours for those who have been affected on the crisis areas (a bit of soul searching - why China is so-called a Super Nation but have totally different behaviours to the rest of the world)... | |

The scale of the devastation from the coverage on the news looks incomprehensible to me .

I learned of the devastating events in Japan while away on holiday. Having returned home today I finally have access to a PC. Words cannot describe the destruction and horror of these ongoing events, earthquake of massive proportions followed by series of aftershocks, tsunami wiping out towns and cities, nuclear power stations damaged and in dangerous conditions... My God I hope all our Japanese members and friends are safe and well. Shazhib and Mitsubishi have replied to my e-mails today, thankfully both safe and well. HIGUsan has written here, thankfully alive and well, I have not yet heard from Francky. Is he safe and well? My thoughts, prayers and best wishes for safety and well-being go out to each and every one of our friends and members in Japan.

Thanks John, I received a reply from Francky this morning. Safe and well although food shortages and fuel rationing are affecting him and everyone else now.The fear of further earthquakes and the Nuclear plants' dangerous conditions is obviously hanging over their heads.
